I thought it might be nice because we live a few blocks away from the proposed Olympic Stadium. I'm not naive, I took Sports and Economics in college, and I know we'll never recoup the money spent on the games. I thought it might benefit me personally, as selfish as that might sound. But now I know differently. The city is now on the hook for $500 million for the 2016 games. If you divide that by the 3 million people in Chicago, that over $160 a person. Of course not everyone pays taxes, so it'll hurt a little more.
Here's my question: why?
I'd rather give that $160 towards educating someone that wants to be in school, or buying someone a suit that can't afford one.
Hell, at this point, I'd rather burn it just to spite the crooks in city hall.
